Well, here we go. Be brave, inflict textile stuff on an unsuspecting world. After all I am trying to develop said stuff to the point where it might mean something to someone besides me. I am working on an open college of the arts course, all about learning to be creative with textiles. I am reading 5000 years of textiles and have been struck by the notion that textiles are an ephemeral art. They disintegrate over time and are lost unlike stone age carvings, pottery, metalwork, structures. Textiles are often made by women, often for everyday use and don’t have the same presence in history. A bit like women and their everyday lives. So, this blog will be a mix of musings and experiments and stuff I am up to in this creative effort. We’ll see if it’s as ephemeral as the art.
